the last post?

Photo: Australian Government

I started this blog almost two years ago, as an experiment. I've made 150+ posts in two years, which is 1-2 per week. It's been fun, I've learnt a lot (both about blogging and from the research I've done to prepare the posts) and I've had some interesting comments.

But I think I've run my race. There are supposedly a hundred million blogs out there, so what distinguishes mine to make it interesting to anyone?

So this may be the last post. I will leave the blog online for a while, because people still find their way to it from the search engines, and because it contans some information useful to me. And if something moves me enough, I may post on it. But don't hold your breath.

So if anyone reads this, and for those who've visited over the two years, thanks for reading and best wishes.

  1. Thank you, Unkle E, for writing such thoughtful and important posts. And for always offering evidence from all side. That is so important. I am a sporadic blogger myself, but I will be keeping an eye out for any future posts you may decide to share!

  2. It has been a pleasure reading; even though I've only commented a couple of times I have found your posts thought-provoking and interesting. Thank you!

  4. Ok, I've been so busy forumming that I've let the blogging slide, and I didn't read this until just now!

Uncle E, please leave this blog up. There's no cost to doing that, and I haven't got through it all yet :) Your posts have been thought provoking, and you've said things very well. I expect I'll be linking to some of your posts as I continue to discuss things with others. In the same way you might buy a good book, to keep access to it in case you might want it, I would buy a copy of this blog, if that were an option.

I guess there does come a point where you've said what you want to say. But I'm glad you've said it, and I hope it remains available so it can continue to do good.

  5. Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

Myron, I will certainly leave it up (I too sometimes need to refer to it). But I just won't be making new posts (except maybe very occasionally). It's not so much having nothing left to say (there are always new things worth commenting on). It is just that I only have a handful of readers each day and it seems maybe a bit indulgent and unnecessary. I am reviewing all my internet involvement, have dropped this and scaled back my posting on forums. I may then amplify my work on my website, not sure yet.

    Thanks again.
